re: Adobe/Microsoft/IBM bug

I had this same issue for one of our users

As a work around I set Default Sans Serif Font under File > Preferences > Basic Notes Client Configuration > Default Fonts to the font the user wanted to use in the messages.

As long as the user has the Font set to Default Sans Serif as they type a message it will actually use the font set in the preferences.

Give that a try.
